EmiliaFoodFest: from September 23 to 25 a journey to discover new anecdotes and recipes

Tradition and innovation, history that meets modernity through the stories of the big names who will participate in the first edition of EmiliaFoodFest from September 23 to 25 in the historic center of Carpi, an event entirely dedicated to the excellence of the Emilia-Romagna region, a real journey through the flavors of the region.

This first edition of the event is a place to meet and discover the excellence of the territory through the stories and experiences of the names of the Emilian-Romagna gastronomic scene.

To open the three days will be Edouard Raspelli gastronomic journalist at the “restaurants of Raspelli” meeting. The restaurants selected, which will be awarded for the 2022 edition, are the Saint Dominic from Imola with Natale, Valentino Marcattilii and Max Mascia; the Antica Corte Pallavicina by Polesine Parmense with Luciano Spigaroli and his brother Massimo e By Giovanni di Cortina D’Alseno of Plaisance with Renato Besenzoni. The winners will be interviewed to accompany the guests to discover the Emilia-Romagna region through their history, their anecdotes and their curiosities, revealing three recipes that have characterized their growth.

Not only restaurants but also products of excellence, always selected by food critics to present them to the public on the occasion of the “Excellence of Raspelli” event. A meticulous and in-depth search for true excellence little known or totally unknown to the general public for a unique and unmissable occasion that will make us discover the rich gastronomic heritage of the region. The protagonists of this meeting together will be:mustard of the restaurant L’Incontro in Carpi, the gardener of the Azienda Agricola Cascina Pizzavacca in Piacenza and the Parmesan cheese from the Bonat Farm in Parma.

Saturday will be a day characterized by great rewards such as the Ambassador of Taste, an award created to celebrate a chef from Emilia-Romagna who has distinguished himself by the quality, care and excellence of his work. For this first edition, the prize will be awarded to the chef Max Mascia at the helm of the starred restaurant San Domenico in Imola, which will be interviewed by a journalist to inform guests and enthusiasts of its strong link with the region. His stubbornness and his attentive and curious gaze allowed him to win the most important challenge by bringing the legendary restaurant into the reality of the 21st century. The kitchen of the San Domenico was inaugurated the weekend of the 1992 Imola Grand Prix and since then the restaurant environment has been deliciously frozen in time, guardian and temple of Great Italian Cuisine: contemporary art, leather dark, silver and crystal. While the gastronomic and oenological proposal, led by Max Mascia, evolves and matures slowly: the emblematic dishes of Bergese and Valentino Marcattilii are always and have always been present, as well as those of the contemporary haute cuisine of Max Mascia. The historic cellar is expertly matched and coordinated by Francesco Cioria, an award-winning sommelier alongside Max for 10 years.

The surprises and big names don’t stop there, the Prix d’Excellence has been created: Emilia In Rosa, a prize to celebrate a female figure who has distinguished herself in her field and contributed to promoting the image of Carpi and Emilia at both national and international levels. For this first edition will be rewarded the writer Felicia Kinsley, who in 2016 self-produced her first novel Marriage of Convenience, immediately achieving great success placing itself in second place among the most read ebooks of 2017. In Italy, she sold more than 500,000 copies and his novels have been translated into English and Czech.

Still in the artistic-cultural vein, the Emilia in the World prize will be awarded to Andrea Mingardi, a singer-songwriter who will talk about his close connection with the territory in an interview.

Rewarded for having contaminated his music known throughout the world with Emilian influences, born in Bologna but also appreciated beyond national borders, Mingardi has established himself as one of the great artists of Italian song, a precursor of rock and roll, precursor of the Italian rhythm. & blues, performer and writer of great songs for Mina and other great artists.

Giancarlo Roversi from Bologna will instead be the winner of the Sandro Bellei Prize 2022. Author of hundreds of volumes and thousands of articles on local traditions, culinary but not only, curious journalist and at the same time rigorous historian in research and study of documents and testimonies useful to reconstruct and tell the stories and events of our people, of the places of Emilia and Romagna, of the typical products of the region. Roversi founded and directed numerous magazines, collaborated with prestigious newspapers, director of Archiginnasio for years, professor at the School of Journalism at the University of Bologna, author of the “Universal Charter of Rights of Cultivated Lands” .

The multisensory journey on the flavors of Via Emilia continues with maestro Gino Fabbri who will delight the palate of visitors during a cooking show scheduled at 5:15 p.m. at the PalaPio and will present an exclusive dessert with flavors of Emilian tradition. Subsequently, master Fabbri will be awarded The King of Pastry prize, a prize instituted to reward a pastry chef or a representative of the dessert sector who has particularly distinguished himself by his work and his experience, bringing prestige and promotion to the confectionery world. and Emilia-Romagna pastry.

The Master will talk to the public in an interesting interview in which he will tell anecdotes and curiosities that link him to the world of dessert.

Stories, anecdotes, recipes and gastronomic tastings and a wine journey could not be missing thanks to the Italian journalist, writer and gastronome, founder of Golosaria Paolo Massobrio who will accompany visitors and enthusiasts on a journey among Emilian wines.
