Twentieth edition with many initiatives
Promoted by the municipality and coordinated by the local Pro Loco, the event this year turns twenty with an edition organized in the enchanting setting historic village surrounded by ancient wallswith a limitless panorama that stretches from the Apennines to the Adriatic Sea.
From October 7 to 9, Leguminaria offers a rich program of initiatives, menus and entertainment that draw visitors into the festive atmosphere of the city. At the center of the table are legumes, which have been habitually consumed here in Appignano for a long time, long before they became the protagonists of current nutraceutical diets and the most photographed by Instagrammers!
Real delights to taste
At Leguminaria there will be a way to know and taste the real “niche superstar“, as the chickpea oak, a variety that was once widespread in the Marches, but which gradually disappeared and found talented farmers here who gradually reintroduced it. The sulfi bean, with its sulfur yellow color, very thin and delicate skin, characteristic flavor and high digestibility. These delicacies can be tasted, accompanied by lentil preparations, in the inns of the historic center, served by costumed characters.
Ceramics is also the protagonist
The city is also famous for the artisanal production of ceramics and majolica. In this regard, Leguminaria hosts the international competition “CeramicAppignano” and on Saturday October 8 the MARC-Ceramic Art Museum of Appignano. On Friday and Saturday, the Municipal School of Ceramics will offer interesting thematic workshops. Saturday evening, at 8:00 p.m., spectacular opening of the kiln with a majestic ceramic work designed by the master potters to celebrate the twenty years of the event, while on Sunday BorgoCeramica-Exhibition-market of ceramics installed along via dei Vasai (Borgo Santa Croce), as well as the typical market which will open its doors from 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Also on Sunday it takes place “Legubike”, a ride which fits well with the philosophy of well-being linked to legumes and the quality of life of these places. “Strolling between Arts and Crafts”, finally, is a route that leads to the Source del Coppo following the route of the Ring of the Laundresses, to honor the memory of a past that, until the last century, saw village women at work.
