The special prize for “La Cucina Italiana” went to Silvia Vian
The very young Marina Summa from Cerano (NO) and Giuseppe Salvador from Martellago (VE) are the 2022 Champions of the “tastiest challenge of the year”, held in Treviso from October 7 to 9. Giuseppe Salvador won the prize for the original version of the famous Italian dessert, while Marina Summa triumphed in the “creation” category.
And in the Loggia dei Cavalieri, where it was possible to taste the Tiramisù dei Campioni from previous editions, more than ten thousand servings of the popular dessert were sold.
Here are the 2022 Tiramisù World Cup Champions, the “tastiest challenge of the year”. Giuseppe Salvador triumphed for the original recipe (eggs, sugar, mascarpone, biscuits, coffee and cocoa): born in 1972, associate of a flooring company, after six years of participation in the TWC, he wanted to dedicate the victory to his friend Marco Zago, who died prematurely: “All that will come from this victory will go to the association “L’espoir de Marco” that we founded for him. It will be used to buy defibrillators and life-saving instruments”. Salvador overtook Cristina Malizia of Bologna and Alessandra Vendemmiati of Venice in the final.
The competition’s youngest competitor, Marina Summa (only 18), a student from Cerano (Novara), won everyone over with her recipe of Sicilian cannoli wafers, candied orange peel and pistachios. “I dedicate the victory to myself – said the girl -. I am passionate, Sicilian cannoli and tiramisu are my favorite desserts”.
Still for the creative recipe, second place for Silvia Vian with her mint syrup, pistachio paste, After Eight; she also received the “La Cucina Italiana” prize, awarded by journalist Laura Forti. Third place for Francesca Gaiotto from Treviso with a Tiramisu with gorgonzola, walnuts and figs.
“We wanted to develop the TWC and we succeeded – commented Francesco Redi, organizer of the event at the end of the exhibition -. I thank the partners, the public and all those who have come to visit us these days. It was a big party for Treviso”.
To crown the Champions this year, the President of the Jury, Laura Forti of “La Cucina Italiana”, the historical gastronomic magazine active since 1929, media partner of the entire magazine, which also awarded the Special Prize for the Best Tiramisù 2022 TWC 2022 winners will now see their recipes published in the November issue magazine, as well as digital coverage on the website and social media. “Tiramisù is one of the recipes that best represents our Italy in the world and the Tiramisù World Cup sums up its values and potential. So let’s add another piece to the project of applying Italian home cooking to UNESCO World Heritage status, promoted by our magazine since 2020,” said Maddalena Fossati, director of La Cucina Italiana.
Finalists Cristina Malizia and Francesca Gaiotto won the prize for the most beautiful “Beautydrop” Tiramisù.
This year it was possible to taste the “best in the world” Tiramisu, by the champions of previous editions of the TWC, at the Loggia dei Cavalieri: the public had the opportunity to meet and converse with those who produced the recipes that they have won in the past, accompanying everything with a glass of excellent wine. Among the thousands of Tiramisu tasted, the original heart-shaped and the famous “cinnamon & ginger”. From the company Moralberti the recipes with “pistachio & raspberries” and with the innovative “strawberry & prosecco”.
The historic partners chosen by TWC 2022 are Matilde Vicenzi’s Vicenzovo ladyfingers, Hausbrandt coffee, Lattebusche mascarpone, Amadori eggs, Italia Zuccheri sugar, Campagnoli & Rodriguez cocoa and Dolcefreddo Moralberti.
The Tiramisù World Cup has chosen to toast its fans with the La Marca Spumanti e Vini winery.
